LUDINGTON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Two officers in Ludington took the police motto “To Protect and to Serve” to a new level.

A Mason County Sheriff’s Deputy and Michigan State Trooper responded to a call at a Walmart on Sunday morning after people reported a woman walking up to cars asking for money.
When officers caught up with the woman, they they learned she hadn’t eaten in two days because the food pantry was closed. Deputy Danielle Gerbers and Trooper Matt Demny took the woman back to Walmart and bought her $90 worth of food and toiletries with their own money.
