LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Carryout cocktails may soon be standard fare after the Michigan House passed a bill on Tuesday which would make the pandemic-era rule permanent.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer originally allowed cocktails-to-go in order to help bars and restaurants during her COVID-19 shutdowns in 2020 and 2021. That order is is set to expire in 2026 should the new bill not pass.
The bill moves on to the Senate for consideration.
The Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association and Michigan Licensed Beverage Association support the bill while the Michigan Alcohol Policy Promoting Health & Safety oppose the legislation.
