HILLSDALE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Longtime “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak announced he will take one final spin, then retire next year.
The 76-year-old host has been at the helm of the popular game show for more than 41 years. He and cohost Vanna White took over “Wheel” duties after the first year when Chuck Woolery hosted the show. Sajak posted the news on his Twitter account.
Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)

Stepping away from his hosting duties does not necessarily mean Sajak is going away all together. In fact, he will likely continue his presence in Michigan.
In April 2019, Hillsdale College named Sajak chairman of the board after serving as a member for more than a dozen years. At the time of his appointment, Hillsdale College President Larry P. Arnn said, “[Sajak] is a man of selfless service, famous and yet not interested in celebrity, hilarious and yet serious. He knows the purposes of the college and is devoted to them.”
