DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Auto thefts are up 33% from last year in Detroit and 53% in Dearborn.

As a result, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy and Detroit-area police departments are starting a new auto theft task force.

Dearborn Heights Police Chief Jarrod Hart says they are going to make a concerted effort to catch thieves. Detroit, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Garden City, and Livonia police are on the task force.
