Members voted earlier this week to consider the recommendation from the 2019 Marquette Senior High School Nickname Research Committee at the July 17th board meeting.

The 2019 committee found that the Nicknames “Redmen” and “Redettes” answered negatively to three core questions:

  • Are they culturally insensitive?
  • Are the nicknames a source of pride for all students?

Several years ago, the school changed its logo from a Native American headdress to the letter “M”.
