ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Fifty-five teachers have been laid off by Ann Arbor Public Schools, and more may be coming.

The district has authorized as many as 141 layoffs to try to correct a $25 million budget shortfall. Another 46 staff members have chosen to leave or retire.

A $14 million accounting error is among the reasons for the budget issue along with more than 1,200 students leaving since the COVID-19 pandemic closed the schools to in-person learning for a full year.
