PORTAGE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – More tornado relief funding is on the way to Portage.
Earlier this week, the Portage City Council voted to shift $2 million from the city’s general fund to cover tornado damage and recovery efforts. The move comes more than a month after an EF-2 tornado swept through the area on May 7. It damaged multiple homes and businesses.

City crews have worked to restore streets and utilities, along with parks and buildings.
Roughly 66 families have been helped by the Portage Community Foundation since the May 7 tornado, according to center Executive Director Chris Buckley.
