LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan’s roadways just might sparkle and shine as volunteers in the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) Adopt-A-Highway program get to work.
They’ll be cleaning roadside areas from July 12–20. According to MDOT, participants collected more than 36,000 bags of trash last year. Volunteers include businesses, families, and members of civic organizations.

To participate, group members must be at least 12 years old, and each group must have a minimum of three people. Groups commit to adopting a section of highway for at least two years.
While working, volunteers wear yellow-green safety vests to stay visible to passing drivers.
The final pickup for the year is scheduled for September 20–28.
