LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A nut allergy alert prompted a recall of a bread product in 12 states, including Michigan.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said Hartford Bakery, Inc. issued the Class I recall due to the risk of life-threatening allergic reactions . The company said it distributed the bread, sold under the Lewis Bake Shop Artisan Style ½ Loaf brand, to major retailers like Walmart and Kroger.

The packaging for the recalled bread included a generic “May Contain Tree Nuts” warning, but did not clearly disclose it contained hazelnuts.
