LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The NCAA Division I Cabinet shook up transfer rules this week, tightening windows for basketball, wrestling, ice hockey, and track and field.

Men’s and women’s basketball now have a 15-day transfer period starting the day after the NCAA championship, with extra windows after head coaching changes. Midyear transfers remain ineligible to compete immediately.

Men’s wrestling drops to a 30-day spring window, while men’s ice hockey gets 15 days post-championship. Track and field keeps a 30-day post-outdoor championship window, dropping its midseason option.

The Cabinet also expanded women’s opportunities. It approved national championships for acrobatics and tumbling and for stunt, pending Division II and III approval. Women’s flag football joins the NCAA’s Emerging Sports for Women program, moving closer to full championship status.

The changes take effect immediately, reshaping transfers and giving female athletes more paths to compete.
