BOIS BLANC ISLAND, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Mackinac County police say a 41-year-old man has been arraigned on multiple felony counts after allegedly shooting at his Bois Blanc Island neighbor’s home on Monday.
Chippewa County Central Dispatch reportedly spoke to a 63-year-old woman who lives on Bois Blanc Island. At the time of the call, dispatch reports indicate the woman hid inside her home while her neighbor allegedly fired high-powered rifle rounds into her house. She said that she could see at least three bullet holes in her home at the time of her call.

Limited resources on the island coupled with the inability to move large tactical equipment meant deputies had to rely on other law enforcement departments, including the Michigan State Police (MSP) Post in St. Ignace, the MSP Emergency Services Team, Bois Blanc Township officials, and the Bois Blanc Fire Department.
Officers removed the woman from her house safely and Gerald Plum surrendered without incident. Plum is lodged at the Mackinac County Jail. His bond is set at $750,000 with a GPS tether. This case is still under investigation.
Bois Blanc Island is home to roughly 100 people, although that number is lower during the winter.
