DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Detroit and dining quality now go hand-in-hand.
The Michelin Guide announced that Detroit will be part of a new guide to the American Great Lakes. The Motor City joins Cleveland, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Pittsburgh. The Michelin Guide is a restaurant and hotel guidebook created by the French tire company of the same name. The guide started as a booklet with two goals: encourage motorists to travel, and buy more tires.

Today, the Michelin Guide has shifted gears to provide influential reviews of restaurants and eateries.
“We are excited to finally be putting a stake in the ground in the Great Lakes region, spotlighting the talent and food cultures across these six great cities,” said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide. “Our anonymous inspectors have been canvassing these cities for impressive culinary talent and are eager to share their experiences with you in the inaugural selection next year.”
Michigan hasn’t made much of a name for itself when it comes to the Michelin Guide. However, Detroit was included in Michelin’s Green Guide in 2024. It featured several attractions, including the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Henry Ford Museum.
