HILLSDALE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Fans of Tom Selleck will soon be hearing the iconic actor’s voice guide them through one of the most important chapters in American history.

Hillsdale College has announced the release of Revolutionary America, its first feature-length documentary, which will be narrated by Tom Selleck and shown in theaters nationwide from May 31 through June 2. The film is being produced by Hillsdale Studios and distributed by Fathom Entertainment.

According to Hillsdale College, the documentary examines the American Revolution through the experiences of ordinary Americans between 1763 and 1791. The film focuses on the principles of liberty, self-government, and the sacrifices made by the nation’s founders as they fought for independence from Great Britain.

Jeremiah Regan, executive producer of the project and executive director of online learning at Hillsdale College, said the documentary aims to help viewers better understand both the purpose of the Revolution and the lasting impact it had on the creation of the American republic.

The documentary includes commentary from Hillsdale College President Larry P. Arnn and several faculty members, along with appearances from conservative commentators including Michael J. Knowles, John Lovell, and Eric Metaxas. The film also incorporates primary historical sources, original music, artwork, and visual effects designed to immerse audiences in the Revolutionary era.

Michigan residents will be able to catch the documentary at several theaters, including Celebration Cinema Lansing with IMAX, Regal Lansing Mall 12, and Jackson 10. Additional locations may be available through participating theaters. Click here to find one near you.

The release comes as the United States prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, a milestone expected to spark renewed interest in the nation’s founding and the ideas that shaped it.
