DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Ford drivers, take note. The automaker is recalling nearly 420,000 vehicles due to a seat belt problem that can increase passengers’ risk of injury.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the seat belts in certain Expedition and Lincoln vehicles may inadvertently lock and prevent the belt from retracting or extending. The recall affects vehicles with model years 2018 to 2022.

The automaker will start notifying affected vehicle owners by mail on June 8. Ford and Lincoln dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the seat belt retractors at no cost.

In addition, Ford is recalling 4,600 Bronco Sport SUVs and Maverick pickups and urging owners not to drive them. The company says a suspension component could disconnect from the front wheel and increase the risk of a crash. The recall affects certain 2021-2026 Bronco Sport models and Mavericks from 2022 through 2026.
