ST. IGNACE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A St. Ignace man is facing embezzlement charges after an investigation uncovered missing funds from the Mackinac County Animal Shelter.

The Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post said the investigation alleges that 63-year-old Andrew Valentine stole more than $20,000 in donations from the animal shelter and redirected the funds to another nonprofit organization, the Mackinac Animal Aid Association.

Valentine was arraigned this week on one count of larceny by conversion. The court granted Valentine a personal recognizance bond and released him.
