CENTREVILLE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A corrections deputy in St. Joseph County has been arrested.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the Aug. 4 arrest this week.

Following the arrest, the deputy was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. The criminal investigation is being conducted by the Three Rivers Police Department. The deputy has not yet been arraigned. The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office will not comment on the facts of the case or any pending court proceedings.

Sheriff Chad Spence said in a release, “The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office is committed to maintaining the public’s trust through transparency, accountability, and due process. While we recognize the public’s interest in this matter, it is important that the investigative and judicial processes proceed without interference.”

Per policy, the deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave pending administrative review.
