EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State University (MSU) will reportedly have new athletic leadership.

According to a report from ESPN, Western Michigan University (WMU) Athletic Director Dan Bartholomae is in final talks to become MSU’s athletic director. Bartholomae would replace J Batt, who left MSU in June to become the athletic director at the University of Kentucky.

Under Bartholomae, WMU won a national title in hockey, and the Broncos are the reigning MAC football champions.

MSU is in need of stable leadership. Batt’s exit came after President Kevin Guskiewicz announced in May that he would leave for Clemson University, only to later decide in July to remain at MSU. That decision came after Batt’s departure.

Tom Izzo, MSU’s men’s basketball coach, expressed his frustration this summer. At the time, Izzo referred to the situation as “ridiculous” and referenced problems within the leadership structure at the East Lansing school.
